Halioglobus maricola sp. nov., isolated from coastal seawater

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic, non-flagellated, chemoheterotrophic bacterium, designated IMCC14385T, was isolated from surface seawater of the East Sea, Republic of Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that IMCC14385T represented a member of the genus Halioglobus sharing 94.6–97.8 % similarities with species of the genus. Whole-genome sequencing of IMCC14385T revealed a genome size of 4.3 Mbp an… Show more

“…nov. ( 14 ), and IMCC14385 as Halioglobus maricola sp. nov. ( 37 ) was reported using a polyphasic approach in our previous studies. JH123 formed a robust cluster with HIMB55, HTCC2080, and Luminiphilus syltensis NOR5-1B T in 16S rRNA gene- and genome-based trees.…”

“…In this study, we report the cultivation of six pure cultured Halieaceae strains and the characterization of their genomes. In addition to the two strains ( H. maricola IMCC14385 and A. fuscus IMCC3088) that were subjected to valid taxonomic descriptions in our previous studies ( 14 , 37 ), “ Ca. S. marina” IMCC8485 and “ Ca.…”

“…The family Halieaceae proposed by Spring et al [1], previously known as the OM60/NOR5 clade of the oligotrophic marine Gammaproteobacteria group [2], belongs to the order Cellvibrionales , class Gammaproteobacteria . The family Halieaceae includes 12 genera (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/family/halieaceae) at the time of writing, Haliea [3], Congregibacter [4], Chromatocurvus [5, 6], Halioglobus [7, 8], Luminiphilus [6], Pseudohaliea [6, 9], Parahaliea [10–12], Marimicrobium [13], Kineobactrum [14], Pseudohalioglobus [15, 16], Seongchinamella [15, 17] and ‘ Aequoribacter ’ (Li SH et al ., 2020 [18]). Most of them were isolated from marine environments, such as seawater, marine sediment, brine spring and tidal mudflat.…”
