Hairy black holes sourced by a conformally coupled scalar field inDdimensions

Abstract: There exist well-known no-hair theorems forbidding the existence of hairy black hole solutions in general relativity coupled to a scalar conformal field theory in asymptotically flat space. Even in the presence of cosmological constant, where no-hair theorems can usually be circumvented and black holes with conformal scalar hair were shown to exist in D ≤ 4 dimensions, no-go results were reported for D > 4. In this paper we prove that these obstructions can be evaded and we answer in the affirmative a question… Show more

“…As a result, one can construct other than the 4 scalar tensor interactions existing in four dimensions. They have been discussed in the literature but they have not been investigated on the type of solutions or effects they may have [49] (see also [50][51][52][53][54] ). Indeed the "simplest" of terms can be obtained in a similar way as the John term in Fab 4.…”

“…In 2014, in higher-dimensional AdS spacetime, Giribet et al proved that analytic solutions to higher-dimensional hairy black holes do exist and the scalar configuration is regular everywhere outside and on the horizon. It turned out that the hairy solution asymptotically goes to (Anti-) de Sitter spacetime at large distance and admits a spherical horizon as well as a horizon of a different topology [24]. In 2015, the thermodynamics of higher-dimensional hairy black holes and the different phases of hairy black holes in AdS5 space were also studied in detail [25,26].…”

“…Further explorations of the AdS hairy black holes in higher-curvature gravity theories have been reported in [27][28][29][30]. In three dimensional Einstein gravity, some static black holes with minimally [31] or nonminimally [20,32] coupled scalar hairs were found.…”
