GTA‐based framework for evaluating the feasibility of transition to FMS

Abstract: PurposeToday's volatile condition of the market is forcing the manufacturing organizations to adapt the flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) to meet the challenges imposed by international competition, ever‐changing customer demands, rapid delivery to market, and advancement in technology. There are certain enablers, which help in the implementation of FMS or in the transition process from traditional manufacturing system to FMS. The utmost need is to analyze the behavior of these enablers for their effective … Show more

“…ISM can illustrate the overall organisation and relations of a structural model. ISM is a well-established interactive learning process (Watson, 1978) (Wagner and Neshat, 2010;Raj et al, 2010;Mathiyazhagan et al, 2013;Jakhar and Barua, 2014;Luthra et al, 2017) is provided in Table 2. been well-accepted in literature (see Table 3).…”

“…Interpretive Ranking Process (IRP) etc. Table 2 provides a brief comparison of ISM-DEMATEL/Fuzzy DEMATEL with above listed approaches (Wagner and Neshat, 2010;Raj et al, 2010;Rahman and Subramanian, 2012;Mathiyazhagan et al, 2013;Jakhar and Barua, 2014;Mangla et al, 2015;Luthra et al, 2016b;Luthra et al, 2017). The ISM and fuzzy DEMATEL were combined in this study due to the following reasons (Chuang et al, 2013;Mehregan et al, 2014;dos Currently, ten key enablers are included for the present research work; (iii) ISM -MICMAC analysis helps in addressing the binary type of relationships among the considered enablers, being pursued in this work.…”
