Green Synthesis of Composite Graphene Aerogels with Robust Magnetism for Effective Water Remediation

Abstract: Graphene-based three-dimensional (3D) magnetic assemblies have attracted great research attention owing to their multiple natures inherited from 3D graphene assemblies and magnetic materials. However, at present, the practical applications of graphene-based magnetic materials are limited by the relative complex synthesis procedure and harsh operation conditions. Hence, a facile and green synthesis strategy is highly desired. Herein, a magnetic graphene aerogel with magnetite nanoparticles in-situ synthesized o… Show more

“…As can be seen, the locations of the peaks in these spectra of the same element are similar, as the dominant peaks in Fe2p scans are at around 712.0 eV for Fe2p 3/2 and 725.0 eV for Fe2p 1/2 , and the ones in Cr2p scans are at around 577.0 eV for Cr2p 3/2 and 587.0 eV for Cr2p 1/2 , indicating that the compositions of iron and chromium are similar in the ASP treated GO. The Fe2p and Cr2p spectra of GO-Ag are decomposed as an example, as shown in figures 6(f)-(g), and both these two transition metals are in oxidized states (Fe 2+ , Fe 3+ , and Cr 3+ ) [31,32], as well as possible nitrides and hydroxides in GO-Ag and GO-Au, according to their corresponding N1s and O1s spectra. The difference in the peak intensity of these spectra (especially the insignificant peak curve of Fe2p spectrum of and even the no Cr2p spectrum displayed in GO-Pd) results from the different contents of iron and chromium, as shown in table 3.…”

“…Graphene oxide was also utilized as a basis for the formation of an aerogel by Ge et al [97] who then investigated this material as catalysts for the degradation of rhodamine B, methyl orange and methylene blue. The generation of the aerogel involved the synthesis of 10 nm magnetite nanoparticles.…”
