Green Synthesis of a Novel Silver Nanoparticle Conjugated with Thelypteris glandulosolanosa (Raqui-Raqui): Preliminary Characterization and Anticancer Activity

Abstract: In the last decade, the green synthesis of nanoparticles has had a prominent role in scientific research for industrial and biomedical applications. In this current study, silver nitrate (AgNO3) was reduced and stabilized with an aqueous extract of Thelypteris glandulosolanosa (Raqui-raqui), forming silver nanoparticles (AgNPs-RR). UV-vis spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) were utilized to analyze the structures of AgNPs-RR. The results from … Show more

“…Also, the PDI index is maintained around the value 0.34, except for the ratios 1:1, 1:2, and 1:15, at which it has values in the range 0.22–0.25. These results are comparable with those reported in literature for the synthesis of AgNPs using Acorous calamus rhizome extract–31.8 nm [ 57 ], turnip leaves extract ( Brassica rapa L. )–39.5 nm [ 58 ], leaves of Thelypteris glandulosolanosa –48.1 nm (PDI–0.472) [ 59 ], Melia azedarach –78 nm [ 60 ], Rubus rosifolius fruit extract–85.6 nm (PDI–0.266) [ 61 ], garlic clove extract–90 nm [ 62 ], fresh leaves of Mentha piperita –88 nm (PDI–0.132), and Amaranthus retroflexus –92 nm (PDI–0.232) [ 20 ].…”

“…Its inefficient use of resources and lack of sustainable policy has resulted in a negative environmental impact [1,2]. Consequently, there is a growing trend in the consumption of sustainable, eco-friendly, and green clothing [2][3][4][5][6][7]. Indeed, consumers are becoming more aware of the current deterioration of the environment and are looking, for instance, for solutions to preserve the ecosystem and protect society [8][9][10][11].…”

“…They were characterized using dynamic light scattering and scanning transmission electron microscopy and found to be spherical in shape with a mean hydrodynamic size equal to 39.16 nm. Upon carrying cell toxicity studies in A549 cells, the biosynthesized NP exhibited significant antitumor activity with an IC 50 value of 12.50 µg/mL [ 140 ].…”
