Green Synthesis of 2‐Aminobenzothiazoles via Copper Catalysis under Microwave Irradiation

Abstract: A new methodology for the synthesis of 2-aminobenzothiazoles, via CuI-catalyzed reaction between 2-bromophenyl isothiocyanate and diverse amines has been achieved. A wide range of 2-aminobenzothiazoles were produced in 27-89 % yields under the optimized condition of 5 mol% CuI in ethanol under microwave heating at 130 °C for 30 minutes. This simple and environmentally benign protocol is free from any ligands, bases and other additives.
