“…Carbon dots (CDs) are zero-dimensional carbon particles with particle sizes ranging from 1 to 10 nm. , In the last few years, CDs have become one of the most popular carbon nanomaterials with unique fluorescent properties, low cytotoxicity, easy preparation, and high-water solubility. They have been successfully applied to photocatalysis, ion detection, biosensing, energy research, and photodynamic therapy. Because of low toxicity, high storage stability, and excellent biocompatibility, CDs were also applied to cell imaging, such as for onion epidermal cells, HepG2, oral tissue, brain tumors (U87 cells), Escherichia coli, , Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Fusarium avenaceum, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Magnaporthe oryzae, and so forth .
