Gravitational waves from isolated neutron stars: Mass dependence of r -mode instability

Abstract: In this work we study the r-mode instability windows and the gravitational wave signatures of neutron stars in the slow rotation approximation using the equation of state obtained from the density dependent M3Y effective interaction. We consider the neutron star matter to be βequilibrated neutron-proton-electron matter at the core with a rigid crust. The fiducial gravitational and viscous timescales, the critical frequencies and the time evolutions of the frequencies and the rates of frequency change are calcu… Show more

“…[30] In FT-IR spectra, the peaks in the region between 500 and 700 cm −1 are attributed to metal-oxygen vibration. In this study, copper oxide nanoparticle formation is confirmed by the presence of peaks at 569 cm −1 for the bending vibration of Cu(II)-O [31,32] and at 621 cm − 1 for the bending vibration of Cu(I)-O. [33] The concurrent biosynthesis of CuO NPs and Cu 2 O NPs using plant extracts has already been reported.…”

“…This fact is highlighted in Fig. 1, where the spin frequencies and core temperatures of observed low-mass x-ray binaries and millisecond radio pulsars [15] always lie below the region of r-mode T (10 8 K) instability [16]. The gap in the graphs is due to the fact that when the temperature T ≤ 10 9 K, the shear viscosity is due to electron-electron scattering (Eq.…”

“…The reduced critical frequencies are lower for heavier white dwarfs at the same temperature and magnetic field. This is because of the fact that the ratios | τ GR |/ τ M and | τ GR |/τ SV rapidly decrease with increase in mass (31). For the same magnetic field and mass, Ω c /Ω 0 ∝ T −1/3 .…”
