“…This is comparable to the mean length of fleshy belly 29.1±1.3 cms in males and 24.6±0.76 cms in females observed by Harbans et al [15] in Jammu region. The mean value of the fleshy belly was observed to be 27.9±0.2 cms by Giordano et al [15] in the French population. The mean length of aponeurosis in our study came out to be 3.51±0.62 cms while the mean length of aponeurosis was 2.5±0.2 cms in males and 1.65±0.16 in females in study by Harbans et al [16] The mean length of distal tendon was measured to be 11.5±2.8 cms in males and 10.9±.03 in females by Harbans et al [16] in Jammu region.…”

“…[14] Only few structural and morphometric studies of this muscle have been conducted. [15][16][17] The mean length of the fleshy part of Gracilis in our study came out to be 29.5±3.0 cms. This is comparable to the mean length of fleshy belly 29.1±1.3 cms in males and 24.6±0.76 cms in females observed by Harbans et al [15] in Jammu region.…”

“…In addition, the level of the first artery entering the muscle is discussed. Giordano et al (1990) described only variations with three nutritive vessels. However, in our findings there were four cases (6.1%) in which the gracilis muscle was nourished by only a single artery.…”

“…Occasionally a small minor accessory pedicle that is proximal to the main or principal pedicle may be present which is known as proximal accessory pedicle [2]. Earliest studies and anatomical textbooks report the main pedicle as a branch of the circumflex medial artery [3,12,10], Hurbanetal [9] study revealed presence of main or primary vascular pedicle arising from PFA (70%) or MCFA (30%). In hurban's study main artery originated in common with artery to adductors in all cases whereas Vigato et aI [5] reported origin of main artery equally divided between artery to adductors(46%) and PFA(45%), in 9% cases they found origin from MCFA.…”
