Many non‐profit organizations experience difficulties in replacing the members of their boards of volunteer directors. And yet, despite the rich literature on the governance of these organizations, such difficulties have been investigated only to a very limited extent. The present article seeks to ascertain whether there is a correlation between these difficulties and the share of public funds in the resources of French non‐profit organizations. To that end, this study draws on a database derived from a survey of these organizations that remains without precedent in France. The investigation reveals a positive correlation between the expression of that difficulty in replacing directors and the extent to which organizations’ financial resources are dependent on public funds. However, this correlation is confined to certain fields of activity, notably the social and charitable field. Moreover, it is not linear. It generally tends to stabilize beyond a 25% threshold of dependency on public financing.

Une recherche-action conduite dans un groupe médico-social permet d’observer la mise en œuvre du concept de pensée complexe (PC) d’Edgar Morin. Les résultats montrent que la PC offre aux professionnels un cadre épistémologique permettant de mieux faire face aux incertitudes de l’environnement. En effet, l’opérationnalisation de la PC invite les professionnels à définir la stratégie d’un établissement dans une perspective de construction de sens, de survie et de développement dans un environnement concurrentiel et aujourd’hui traversé par la crise de Covid-19.

Sur la base de 23 entretiens en EHPAD et crèches, cette recherche fait apparaître trois dimensions de l’alter-gestion en réponse aux contraintes néo-libérales : une prise en compte des parties prenantes, une individualisation de la prise en charge et une approche plus qualitative de la gestion de la structure. Elle se place dans la lignée des travaux récents sur le modèle de l’ESS (Saddier, 2022 ; Jeantet, 2021) en questionnant son potentiel alternatif (Ouahab, 2019).
