Goodput Evaluation of AODV, OLSR and DYMO Protocols for Vehicular Networks Using CAVENET

Abstract: In VANETs and MANETs, the topology of the network changes very often, therefore implementation of efficient routing protocols is very important problem. In this paper, we investigated the goodput of AODV, OLSR and DYMO routing protocols using CAVENET (Cellular Automaton based VEhicular NETwork). The simulation results show that the number of hops for DYMO is smaller than AODV and bigger than OLSR. Also, the goodput of DYMO is better than OLSR, but smaller than AODV because DYMO is not equipped with a buffer fo… Show more

“…Some of them focus on studying the relationship between vehicles density and routing protocol, while other focus on vehicles' specific parameters like speed and transmission rate. In [4], the authors compare three routing protocols: OLSR, AODV, and DYMO. They find out that AODV performs better that OLSR and DYMO in respect to goodput, while DYMO is better than AODV in respect to delay.…”

“…In case of AODVv2, there are a bunch of performance evaluations [1], [13], [14], [21], [22]. The first one for example shows that the performance of AODVv2 is not as good as that of AODV.…”

“…As a result, security needs necessitate collaboration and supervision [3]. VANET network provides many applications, the most important of which is to provide safety during travel [4], and there are other applications such as providing restaurant locations, providing traffic information, providing weather information to increase the comfort of passengers, road condition warning, warning against violating traffic lights, pedestrian crossing warnings, intersection collisions, and collision alerts are among the safety applications in VANETs that aim to prevent and reduce the incidence of road accidents [5]. VANET network needs efficient routing protocols for the accurate and timely transfer of data and information, but due to network characteristics, it is not easy to design a protocol that fits all network scenarios.…”
