Good Governance and Public Trust: Assessing the Mediating Effect of E-Government in Pakistan

Abstract: Administrative practices have always been acknowledged as a crucial tool for establishing good governance. Strong evidence shows that good governance extensively influences citizens’ behaviors toward government. This study empirically examines how good governance promote public trust with possibly mediating role of e-government. A field survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 1000 Pakistani individuals. The response rate was 76.3%. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling w… Show more

“…For testing the hypothesized model, we applied the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique with a maximum-likelihood estimation through AMOS 25. It allowed us a complete assessment of all the studied variables with the data used for the hypothesized model [71,72]. Anderson and Gerbing's [73] 2-step approach was applied to confirm the hypotheses.…”

“…Lastly, the values of the composite reliability for all of the constructs were greater than the 0.70 threshold value [121], which suggests a high level of internal consistency [122]. Figure 2 and Table 5 display the results of the structural equation modeling (SEM) [123]. The proposed structural model had a satisfactory fit to the data (χ 2 = 286.773, NFI = 0.958, IFI = 0.979, CFI = 0.979, TLI = 0.974, and RMSEA = 0.039).…”

“…According to the results of the CFA, the measurement model has an adequate fit to the data (χ 2 = 717.922, NFI = 0.956, IFI = 0.979, CFI = 0.979, TLI = 0.974, RMSEA = 0.034). All these fit values fulfill the minimum criteria [102,103]. Table 4 shows the measurement items for each construct with their standardized loadings.…”
