Gold, Silver, and Palladium Nanoparticles: A Chemical Tool for Biomedical Applications

Abstract: Herein, the role of metal-based nanoparticles (NPs) in biomedical analysis and the treatment of critical deceases been highlighted. In the world of nanotechnology, noble elements such as the gold/silver/palladium (Au/Ag/Pd) NPs are the most promising emerging trend to design bioengineering materials that could to be employed as modern diagnostic tools and devices to combat serious diseases. NPs are considered a powerful and advanced chemical tool to diagnose and to cure critical ailments such as HIV, cancer, a… Show more

“…Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), which possess unique catalytic, electric, and antibacterial properties, arguably constitute the most common and widely used nanoparticulate material. 1 , 2 Their use is particularly promoted by their antibacterial properties. AgNPs effectively suppress the growth of pathogenic unicellular microorganisms and viruses of various taxonomic groups.…”

“…These methods are effective in cancer treatment but are associated with many disadvantages. The relevance of nanotechnology in cancer therapy is from the early detection and analysis of tumors [86]. The studies on MNPs for cancer therapy are related to exploring the advantage of nanotechnology.…”

“…Drug-loaded gold NPs (AuNPs) aimed at intracellular inhibition mechanisms of viral activities. AuNPs should interact with virus particles to demonstrate better antiviral actions, through inhibiting viral entry (Yaqoob et al 2020). For instance, using AuNPs for delivery of antiviral peptide "FluPep" improved its solubility and resulted in a synergistic anti-viral potential against influenza virus (Zaid et al 2018).…”
