Gly‐Gly‐His Immobilized On Monolayer Modified Back‐Side Contact Miniaturized Sensors for Complexation of Copper Ions

Abstract: Miniaturized planar back-side contact transducers (BSC) with chemically modified gold surface have been utilized as electrochemical sensors. The electrodes have been functionalized by sequential immobilization of aryl diazonium salts or alkanethiols and short peptide Gly-Gly-His. The applicability of gold substrates modified with aryl diazonium salts in voltammetric detection of copper(II) ions in aqueous solutions has been studied. The combination of two fundamental elements of the solid-state electrode, i.e.… Show more

“…13 Organism aging and disease often overtax the system and free radical generation exceeds the organism's natural antioxidant capacity, resulting in a state termed as oxidative stress. [21][22][23] Promising sensing characteristics were obtained for histidine containing molecules e.g. [14][15][16] In the present work we studied the adsorption of the amino acid histidine.…”

“…Cerium oxide nanoparticles appear to hold promise for the nanopharmacotherapy of neurodegenerative and other disorders linked to this oxidative stress. 22 Heme-functionalized electrode surfaces are another example of potential biosensors for diatomic molecules such as CO, NO, and O 2 . Histidine plays an important role in many metalloproteins providing a binding site for coordinated metal complexes, for example Fe porphyrins.…”

“…Nowadays, the development of electrochemical biosensors based on chemically modified electrodes for the detection and quantification of metal ions in natural samples with less toxicity and more environmentally friendly than mercury is still a very promising area. An essential aspect in the design of these biosensors is the molecule immobilization procedure [5]. Among others, a strategy for modifying electrodes is based on the formation of self-assembled monolayers (SAM).…”

“…The immobilization procedure is a crucial point in the design of CMEs [5]. In this sense, the immobilization based on aryl diazonium salt electrografting has proven its benefits in the development of sensors for metal ion determination [6][7][8].…”
