Glucose sensing based on Pt-MWCNT and MWCNT

Abstract: It is known that multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is an excellent materials for biosensing applications and with the introduction of Pt nanoparticles (Pt-MWCNTs) of about 3nm in diameter in MWCNTs greatly increases the current sensitivity and also the signal to noise ratio. We fabricated the CNT-based glucose sensor by immobilization the bio enzyme, glucose oxidase (GoX), on the Pt-MWCNT and electrode were prepared. The sensor has been tested effectively for both the abnormal blood glucose levels-greater… Show more

“…The hydrogen peroxide is produced as a result of one glucose molecule reacting with one water dissolved oxygen molecule which generates one molecule of hydrogen molecule, which in turn undergoes an oxidation reaction and can be detected at the anode, equation 5. It is observed that the hydrogen peroxide produced applies a high voltage to the sensor which is a drawback [8].…”

“…Thus the mediator enhances the electron transfer rate between GOx and the electrode, lowering the potential for glucose detection [8]. Nafion has many advantages like reduction of oxygen fluctuations in the measurements, increases selectivity to glucose etc [9].…”
