Glucocorticoids decrease the numbers and activation of mast cells by inducing the transactivation receptors of AGEs

Abstract: Glucocorticoids (GCs) are potent anti-allergic compounds that function, at least in part, by inhibiting signaling pathways in mast cells. We hypothesized that the GC-induced mastocytopenia and suppression of mast cell activation are mediated by the advanced glycation end products (AGEs)/receptors of AGEs (RAGEs) signaling axis. We evaluated the role of AGEs in GC-mediated mastocytopenia and impaired mast cell degranulation in male Wistar rats and Swiss-Webster mice subcutaneously injected with dexamethasone or… Show more

“…Sample size, different demographic characteristics and treatment with glucocorticoids are thought to contribute to these disparities. 18 However, there are several limitations that should be acknowledged in the current study. First, the generalizability may be restricted, which may be due to the small sample size of patients.…”

“…( 19) Complex of glucocorticoids-glucocorticoid receptors (GC-GR) migrates to the cell nucleus to transactivation of anti-inflammatory genes and expression of genes encoding RAGE. (20) Eventhough this study reported the difference of NF-κB and RAGE expression in PROM and non-PROM subjects with infection and complications, however only limited number of samples included. Hence further study with more number of sample and by using different methods should be conducted.…”

“…Targeting MCs is an important approach for treating IgE-mediated allergic dise MC activation can be inhibited by various clinical therapeutic agents, including antih mines, glucocorticoids, MC stabilizers, and leukotriene antibody antagonists [25][26][27][28][29] tihistamines prevent histamine molecules from binding H1 receptors, which then vents the release of histamine [26]. Although second-generation antihistamines fewer adverse secondary effects than their predecessors, they still have a sedating…”
