Global Comprehensive Literature Review and Meta-Analysis of Brucella spp. in Swine Based on Publications From 2000 to 2020

Abstract: Background: Brucellosis, a zoonotic disease, infects various hosts, including swine and humans. It has reemerged in recent years as a public health concern, and current studies on brucellosis infection in swine have been conducted worldwide. However, no meta-analyses of global brucellosis infection in swine have been published. The aim of this study was to provide an overview of Brucella species (spp.) in swine worldwide and the factors associated with its persistence. Results: We searched seven databases for p… Show more

“…A global comprehensive literature review and meta-analysis of Brucella in pigs from 2000 to 2020 reported that the overall prevalence of brucellosis in wild boars between 2006 and 2010 was 22.3% [ 27 ], while after 2010, the prevalence gradually decreased after the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) proposed control safety standards for animal production [ 28 ]. De facto , the Brucella seroprevalence in wild boars in Croatia varied through the years, ranging from 1.3% to 27.6% during different periods [ 13 , 14 , 25 ].…”

“…Para Gong et al (2021), as análises sistemáticas da prevalência geral de brucelose em suínos em todo o mundo são escassas, onde realizaram uma revisão sistemática e meta-análise de Brucella spp. para analisar a prevalência combinada de brucelose em suínos e avaliar os potenciais fatores de risco associados à prevalência de brucelose, foram incluídas cinco regiões geográficas globais: África, América, Ásia, Europa e Oceania.…”
