Gerentological Studies on the Gross and Histomorphology of the Vesicular Gland of Gaddi Goat (Copra hircus)

Abstract: 5 years) age groups. In new born kid the glands were small, white cord like. It became "?" shaped at 6 months and "S" shaped at 12 months of age. A significant growth in size and weight of gland occurred at 6 month, then up to 12 month and beyond it grew slowly. The secretory acini of the lobules were lined by pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium which contained A-tall columnar, B-basal and C-narrow columnar type of cells. The number per unit area and size of the gland increased with age significantly… Show more

“…The cytoplasm of the cells were finely granular and faintly eosinophilic cytoplasm, but the apical border it became slightly basophilic in nature in the present study. This also the similar observation of Gaddi goats (Archana et al, 2009) stated that the late pre-pubertal Gaddi goats contained eosinophilic cytoplasm which stained relatively more darkly in the apical region. Type B cells were located in the basal lamina in between the type A cells having round or oval nucleus with indistinct cell boundaries.…”

“…These cells extend from basement membrane to the luminal surface of the gland [18]. Moreover, the secretory end pieces of the seminal glands in Gaddi goat exhibited apocrine mode of secretion [9]. The cytoplasm of the secretory epithelium is vacuolated in sections prepared by ordinary methods.…”
