Geometric quantum information structure in quantum fields and their lattice simulation

Abstract: An upper limit to distillable entanglement between two disconnected regions of massless noninteracting scalar field theory has an exponential decay defined by a geometric decay constant. When regulated at short distances with a spatial lattice, this entanglement abruptly vanishes beyond a dimensionless separation, defining a negativity sphere. In two spatial dimensions, we determine this geometric decay constant between a pair of disks and the growth of the negativity sphere toward the continuum through a seri… Show more

“…It is speculated that the RG flow of parameters in an effective action is driven by entanglement between the IR and UV. Along a similar vein, recent work has employed numerical methods to study the ground state entanglement structure between disjoint regions of massless free scalar field theory [49,50]. In tension with the tenets of effective field theory, it was found that long distance entanglement gets most of its support from short distance field modes.…”

“…Looking to the future, there are potential new opportunities for nuclear structure from emerging technologies. These include machine learning [71], quantum computing [72][73][74][75], computing technologies such as tensor networks [76][77][78], and automatic code generation [79][80][81]. Talks at the INT Crossroads program that specifically addressed such opportunities were given by Bedaque, Duguet, Drischler, Hergert, Lee, and Lovato, and there were many additional contributions during the discussion times.…”
