Entanglement minimization in hadronic scattering with pions

Silas R. Beane,
Roland C. Farrell,
Mira Varma

Abstract: Recent work [1] conjectured that entanglement is minimized in low-energy hadronic scattering processes. It was shown that the minimization of the entanglement power (EP) of the low-energy baryon-baryon S-matrix implies novel spin-flavor symmetries that are distinct from large-N c QCD predictions and are confirmed by high-precision lattice QCD simulations. Here the conjecture of minimal entanglement is investigated for scattering processes involving pions and nucleons. The EP of the Smatrix is constructed for t… Show more

“…These observations have motivated the study of entanglement in 2 → 2 scattering in high energy physics [19][20][21], particularly in the context of Effective Field Theory (EFT) [22][23][24][25]. The existence of higher dimensional operators in an EFT can modify the degree of entanglement in the final scattered states, which might act as a possible probe of new physics.…”
