“…by analyzing the scale shape variation by means of landmarks and semi‐landmarks (Vetrova, 2013; Vetrova et al, 2020). These studies of ovulate cone scales show that geometric morphometry is a “reliable marker to estimate phenotypic diversity in P. pumila ” (Vetrova, 2013, p. 24), because this character is mainly influenced by latitudinal factors. Our results show that the method is efficient as a tool to characterize the intra‐ and interspecific scale variability among those species.…”

“…Twenty semi-landmarks were also placed between those two fixed landmarks, following the outline curve of the half of the scale. Because the scale is a symmetrical structure, only one side is analyzed (following Vetrova, 2013) to avoid data redundancy (Webster and Sheets, 2010) and to reduce the influence of symmetry reduction by fossilization. They still retain their general shape (curvature, angle, size).…”

“…Эф-фективность этого подхода для анализа изменчивости и дифференциации популяций была показана на примере кедрового стланика (Pinus pumila (Pall.) Regel) (Vetrova, 2013;Ветрова, Синельникова, 2014).…”
