Geometric implications of the M (r, s)-properties and the uniform Kadec-Klee property in JB*-triples

Abstract: We explore new implications of the M (r, s) and M * (r, s) properties for Banach spaces. We show that a Banach space X satisfying property M (1, s) for some 0 < s ≤ 1, admitting a point x 0 in its unit sphere at which the relative weak and norm topologies agree, satisfies the generalized Gossez-Lami Dozo property. We establish sufficient conditions, in terms of the (r, s)-Lipschitz weak * Kadec-Klee property on a Banach space X, to guarantee that its dual space satisfies the UKK * property. We determine approp… Show more

“…As is known to all, thermal degradation of TPU has two steps: the first step is responsible for the rupture of the TPU main chains; and the second step is attributed to the further destruction of the C-C and C-O bonds of the main chain. [41] It can be seen that the thermal degradation of flame-retardant TPU composites also has two main steps. For neat TPU, the temperature at 5% mass loss (T -5% , taken as the onset of the degradation) is about 330°C, the maximum weight loss temperature (T -max ) of TPU is 436°C and only 9.94% char residue remains at 700°C.…”

“…[ 28 ] Recently, Zhu and co-workers reported a novel SP mechanophore cross-linker that had good selectivity toward mechanical force and fast recovery rate from the excited MC state. [ 29 ] Herein, we incorporated this SP mechanophore as cross-linker in a CO 2 -responsive PDEA microgel system, which was inspired by the work of solvent swelling activation of SP mechanophore in crosslinked PMMA. [ 24 ] As is shown in Scheme 1 , the deformation of microgels could be regulated by CO 2 aeration, which subsequently induced reversible activation of the SP mechanophore previously embedded in the microgels.…”

“…The above results were obtained at the room temperature of 273 K. Attempts were also made to examine the applicability of the model at the steelmaking temperature of 1873 K and the results show that the calculated Mach number and mass flow rate at the nozzle exits as well as gas velocity at the jet centerline are respectively consistent with those predicted by the isotropic theory and reported in the literature, as www.steel-research.de detailed elsewhere. [1,12,13,27] All these results suggest that the present model can be used to satisfactorily describe behaviors of jets, at least qualitatively. On this base, the model was used in this study to investigate coalescence characteristics of supersonic jets under steelmaking conditions where reliable experimental data are very limited at this stage of development due to the hightemperature environment involved.…”
