The article presents the results of spatial analysis of innovations diffusion in the agriculture of the Russian Federation regions based on the use of GIS technologies. The research includes traditional and mathematical methods as well as geoinformation-cartographic modeling. This paper presents various aspects of innovative development and innovative processes in the regions of Russia by constructing and analyzing geoinformation-cartographic models of various complexity. To illustrate innovations diffusion a series of analytical base and resulting maps have been obtained. Additionally, the results of GIS mapping are presented in the form of animated maps and cartographic animations reflecting the territorial distribution of innovations. The spatial geoinformation-cartographic analysis of innovations geographical distribution as well as the direction of their diffusion processes reveals a number of objective patterns of their distribution. Primarily, in the space-time continuum of country's agricultural sector innovations shift from nuclei and sub-nuclei to innovative sub-periphery and peripherals. Geographically it happens in the direction from the largest cities that are at the same time the leading scientific and technical centers as well as from the areas of intensive agriculture, towards mostly eastern and northern regions of the European part of Russia, Siberia and the Far East. In addition, GIS technologies allowed to form cartographic and attribute databases that are key indicators of innovative development, to construct and analyze geoinformational and cartographic models of territorial innovative agricultural systems at the regional level and reveal the processes of innovations diffusion.

The article considers the possibilities of using geoinformation technologies in studying vertically integrated structures in agriculture of Russia as an important factor of innovative development of the agrarian sphere at the present stage. The use of GIS technologies is an effective tool for identifying spatial patterns of placement of the largest vertically integrated formations (agroholding) and the level of their territorial concentration by regions of Russia. Geo-information technologies are also an effective method of exploring the territorial and functional structure of large agroholdings at the regional (meso-) level. The strategic importance of large vertically integrated structures in ensuring the food security of the country was analysed. The important role of agroholdings is noted in ensuring innovative modernization of agriculture and in ensuring commercialization of innovation as a result of improvement of the material and technical base of agro-industrial complex and application of new technologies: efficient soil processing technologies, information technology of production process management, agricultural robotics and wider use of GIS-technologies for agro-management and support of agrotechnical operations. In order to identify and investigate spatial and temporal regularity of territorial organization of agroholdings, possible options were identified and thematic databases for GIS ArcView GIS were developed, which are the basis for geographic information modeling and mapping of various aspects of placement of vertically integrated structures. Functional and organizational-management structure of agroholdings is considered. Factors of formation and territorial differentiation of agroholdings in different regions of Russia have been identified and analyzed, the largest land users have been identified and the rating of the largest vertically integrated structures by revenue has been given. Spatial analysis of patterns of formation and development of agroholdings was carried out, positive and negative consequences of their functioning were revealed. The territorial and sectoral structure of a large regional agroholding in the Republic of Mordovia was studied in detail, the main factors of the functioning and development of this form of organizational and managerial innovations were identified.

The article presents the results of the analysis of the spatio-temporal variability of the processes of diffusion of innovations in the agricultural sector of the Russian Federation by subjects. The application of a group of traditional and mathematical methods in the research process is complemented by the widespread use of the capabilities of geoinformation technologies and, first of all, geoinformation-cartographic modeling. In the process of conducting research, the corresponding specialized GIS databases “Innovations in the Subjects of the Russian Federation” were designed and practically implemented in various software versions. Based on them, the construction and analysis of a complex of geographic information-cartographic models, differing in the degree of complexity, reflecting the innovative processes occurring in agriculture of all regions of the Russian Federation, was performed. Each of the series of obtained analytical base and resulting maps illustrates various aspects of the innovative development of agriculture and the diffusion of innovations at different time periods. The results of geographic information mapping and modeling were also presented in the form of animated maps and cartographic animations reflecting the features of the territorial distribution of innovations and the spatio-temporal dynamics of their diffusion. Spatio-temporal geographic information-cartographic analysis of the diffusion of innovations made it possible to identify some objective laws of this process. First of all, there was a marked movement of innovations in the agriculture of the Russian Federation in the space-time continuum in the direction from innovative nuclei and sub-nuclei to innovative sub-periphery and periphery, and from donor regions of agricultural innovations to recipient regions. Geographically, the diffusion of innovations in agriculture of the Russian Federation occurs mainly in the direction from the largest cities (at the same time being leading scientific and technical centers) and areas of intensive agriculture (primarily farming) to the regions of the east and north of the European part, Siberia and the Far East. The wide use of the capabilities of geographical information systems and geographic information technologies at all stages of the study allowed the formation of cartographic and attributive databases of the GIS “Innovations in the Subjects of the Russian Federation” according to the main indicators of the innovative development of the agricultural industry at the territorial level of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. On their basis, a significant number of maps and geoinformation-cartographic models of territorial innovative agricultural systems of regional level, the processes of diffusion of innovations occurring in them were constructed and analyzed, and their main spatio-temporal patterns were revealed.
