Geographical discrimination of Chinese winter wheat using volatile compound analysis by HS‐SPME/GC‐MS coupled with multivariate statistical analysis

Abstract: This study aimed to develop a potential analytical method to discriminate the Chinese winter wheat according to geographical origin and cultivars. A total of 90 wheat samples of 10 different wheat cultivars among three regions were examined by headspace solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The peak areas of 32 main volatile compounds were selected and subjected to statistical analysis, which revealed significant differences among different regions and cultivars… Show more

“…Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was mainly applied in targeted detecting of fatty acids or polar lipid components in wheat [25,26]. Volatile compounds of wheat samples have drawn much attention, and they have been applied in wheat geographical discrimination using the GC-MS approach [27]. Finnie and colleagues quantitatively characterized the polar lipid components of different layers of wheat fractions based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) techniques [28].…”

“…This type of analytic cross-sectional cross-sectional study design in which the independent variables and dependent variables are expressed at the same time to respondents who aim to find out certain factors and problems. Respondents in this study were nurses inpatient installation Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital of Riau Province, amounting to 431 people [18][19][20][21][22].…”

“…For example, Lim Dong Kyu et al [10] used untargeted metabolomics approaches to analyze the geographical origin of rice and proposed a phospholipid-based discrimination method. For example, Lim Dong Kyu et al [11] successfully established a classification model based on linear discriminant analysis by gas chromatography to discriminate the geographic origin of Chinese winter wheat. This model could be used to distinguish between geographical origin and variety, but the accuracy rate for origin identification was low.…”
