Genome-wide analysis of differentially expressed genes and the modulation of PEDV infection in Vero E6 cells

Abstract: PEDV remains one of the most important swine diseases that infects pigs of all ages. It causes devastating viral enteric disease in piglets with a high mortality rate, leading to significant threats and huge economic loss to the pork industry. In this study, a transcriptomic shotgun sequencing (RNA-Seq) procedure was used to study gene responses against PEDV infection. Genome-wide analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) was performed in Vero E6 cells post-PEDV infection. mTOR signaling pathway activa… Show more

“…The JAK/STAT pathways were identified from both analyses of the genes in the vicinity of lncRNAs and mRNAs, indicating their vital roles during PEDV infection. Antigen processing and presentation, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and metabolic pathways were also identified in another study (Zhang et al, 2018), suggesting these molecules may also be important to host responses against PEDV infection.…”

“…Previous studies provided transcriptomic and proteomic data for PEDV-infected Vero cells that offered the first valuable insight to better understand the host response to PEDV infection [ 16 , 44 , 45 ]. However, these reports contained some contradictory results.…”

“…Moreover, complicated culture conditions are also the important reason for curbing the prevention and treatment of PEDV. We referenced to the method that isolating virus with trypsin as previous reports (Hofmann and Wyler, 1988;Kusanagi et al, 1992;Lee et al, 2015;Li et al, 2015;Zhang et al, 2018). Then, a strain of PEDV, CH/JLDH/2016, was isolated and identified in our study.…”
