Genetic Diversity and Structure of Populations of Annona crassiflora Mart. of Brazilian Savanna and Its Association with Chemical Variability

Abstract: Annona crassiflora Mart. is a native tree from Brazilian savanna. Isoquinoline alkaloids are characteristic of species of Annonaceae. This work aimed to assess the magnitude of genetic diversity among different populations of A. crassiflora using AFLP markers, and verify the existence of any correlation between the AFLP data and previous reported alkaloid composition. A. crassiflora from eight populations in the states of São Paulo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Distrito Federal were analyzed. The data suggest a lo… Show more

“…The being outcomes proved that the phenotypic variability obtained from the clustering of the M. longifolia accessions in some items has no association with the geographical pattern. So discrepancies between the morphological cluster and the geographical spots of the accessions could be described by the preferences of genetic elements on geographical sources [45] …”

“…Relationships between molecular markers and other quantitative traits have been simultaneously used to describe the variability in many medicinal plants [39,42–45] . In the current study, ISSR markers were employed for the first time to identify a piece of better knowledge about the association between genetic diversity and morpho‐chemical characteristics of M. longifolia accessions (MLACs) from Iran.…”

“…These specimens were collected from conservation areas such the Jardim Botânico de Bauru (forest) and Parque Nacional das Emas (national park). Other studies using the AFLP technique in protected areas with native species from Brazilian savanna have found similar levels of intrapopulation genetic diversity [65][66][67][68]. Lower values of intrapopulation genetic diversity were found for Campo Grande, Três Lagoas, and Selvíria populations (chemotypes CII and CII) from areas under anthropic pressure.…”
