Genetic dissection of fruit weight and size in an F2 peach (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) progeny

Abstract: Artículo de publicación ISIFruit weight is a quantitative trait influenced by the combined action of several genes and environmental factors. Knowledge of the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with fruit weight and size is a priority to support breeding programmes in peach (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) because of commercial interest in larger fruits. To this end, we built a genetic map of an F2 progeny of 117 individuals from the cross PI91459 (‘NJ Weeping’) 9 ‘Bounty’ using a single nucleotide… Show more

“…SNPs allow increased saturation and genome coverage and therefore provide higher precision and accuracy for QTL dissection in this population, as was found in other Prunus progenies Martínez-García et al 2013b;Da Silva-Linge et al 2015).…”

“…To our knowledge, this is the sixth full map produced with the 'IPSC 9K peach SNP array v1' in peach, although others have been constructed with this array technology in other Prunus-derived progenies Yang et al 2013;Martínez-García et al 2013a;Frett et al 2014;Pacheco et al 2014;Romeu et al 2014;Da Silva-Linge et al 2015;Nuñez-Lillo et al 2015). The length of genetic linkage maps mostly based on SNP markers were more saturated compared with the previously published maps, with the exception of the T × E Prunus reference map (Dirlewanger et al 2006).…”

“…Multifactorial inheritance is defined as traits resulting from the interplay of multiple environmental factors (e.g., pedoclimatic factors) with multiple genes (or polygenes) [43,44,45,46]. Fruit weight is a quantitative trait influenced by the combined action of polygenes and environmental factors [44,46,47].…”

“…Fruit weight is a quantitative trait influenced by the combined action of polygenes and environmental factors [44,46,47]. Large edible fruits such as cubiu result from selection, domestication, and long breeding practices for desirable traits (e.g., higher weight) [1].…”
