Generation and transmission of 3 × 3 w-band multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-radio-over-fiber signals using micro-ring resonators

Abstract: Using the micro-ring resonator (MRR) system, the single and multi-carriers at frequencies of f(1)=192.898, f(2)=192.990, f(3)=193.1, f(4)=193.315, and f(5)=193.537  THz with a free spectral range (FSR) of 92, 110, 215, and 222 GHz, respectively, are generated to be suitable for a radio-over-fiber (RoF) system based on multi-input multi-output (MIMO) with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Demonstrated are the concepts of all-optical MIMO signal generation and its transmission over a 50 km singl… Show more

“…However, it is not cost-effective, since the ONU has to be associated with a wireless modem to transfer the baseband signal to its final MIMO wireless format before the wireless transmission. Therefore, it is more appealing and less expensive to deploy RoF for the transmission of MIMO wireless signals over fibre [40][41][42][43][44][45]. Moreover, analogue signal transmission leads to simpler RAUs and the analogue signals generally obtain less bandwidth than their baseband equivalents [43].…”

“…To determine the normalised value of each RAT, it is needed to identify the main factors of the secure RATs. Based on the literature, three major parameters for a secure communication network are encryption (ENP), complexity (COMC), and response time (RST) (security in networks) [22][23][24][25][26][27] ( Tables 5 and 6).…”

“…In this research, the microring resonators have the large radius, where the loss due to the bending factor is negligible. The throughput and drop port output intensities of the add/drop filter system can be expressed by |Et|2|Eout3|2=true(1k4true)21k41k5eα2Ladcostrue(knLadtrue)+true(1k5true)eαLad1+true(1k4true)true(1k5true)eαLad21k41k5eα2Lad costrue(knLadtrue), |Ed|2|Eout3|2=k4k5eα2Lad1+true(1k4true)true(1k5true)e<...>…”
