“…Boys may need more time for maturation and for the acquisition of fine motor skills (Richter & Janson, 2007;Lung, Chiang, Lin, Feng, Chen, & Shu, 2011), thus gender specific normative data can prevent over-diagnosis and treatment of dysgraphia in boys. Since handwriting produced by boys remains less readable and slower throughout their school career (Berninger & Fuller, 1992;Berninger et al, 2008;Ziviani & Watson-Will, 1998), it is recommended that handwriting requirements should be adapted for boys.
