W niniejszym artykule autorka poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie o relację pomiędzy religijnością a percepcją roli kobiety w sytuacji migracyjnej. Punktem wyjścia do rozważań jest założenie, że w sytuacji migracyjnej zmianom podlega nie tylko sposób rozumienia religijności w ogóle, ale i własnej roli w procesie jej tworzenia. Migrantki pozycjonują się wobec religijności w roli sprawczego podmiotu i defi niują na nowo znaczenia z nią związane. Tym samym, w ich ujęciu, religijność zyskuje wymiar indywidualny, zostaje odłączona od instytucji i przeniesiona do sfery prywatnej. W tym procesie swoistej emancypacji religijnej, doświadczenie migracji odgrywa istotną rolę. Autorkę interesuje to, czy zmiana kultury religijnej, która jest impulsem do negocjacji znaczeń związanych z religijnością, stanowi również źródło negocjowania znaczeń przypisywanych społecznej roli kobiety. Odpowiada na pytanie, opierając się na badaniach jakościowych przeprowadzonych w latach 2012-2015 wśród polskich migrantek w Islandii.Słowa kluczowe: migracje, płeć kulturowa, religijność, polskie migrantki, Islandia WSTĘP Dopiero pod koniec lat 70. XX wieku w badaniach nad migracjami zaczęto uwzględniać płeć jako czynnik różnicujący przyczyny i okoliczności tego zjawiska. Do tego czasu głównym przedmiotem zainteresowania dyscypliny byli mężczyźni, gdy tymczasem kobiety "ukryte" były pod postacią towarzyszącej im rodziny (Kofman 2000: 46) 1 . Dziś w studiach migracyjnych kobiety stanowią uprawniony obiekt badań 2 , a jako jedną z cech charakterystycznych współczesnych migracji wymienia się ich feminizację (por. Slany 2008: 7-8; Castles i Miller 2011: 28-29) 3 .
