Gender and health behaviours of hypertensive patients: mediating role of control beliefs

Abstract: Previous studies have reported gender differences in patients' health behaviours but few studied hypertensive patients. The potential underlying factors that may mediate gender influences on health behaviours is also a more critical area worthy of investigation. This study examined health locus of control (HLC) as a pathway of gender effects on health behaviours of hypertensive patients. The Multidimensional HLC Scale (Form C) and Wellness behaviour subscale of Health Behaviour Checklist were completed by 400 … Show more

“…PROCESS is used for regression-based path analysis and creates product terms to analyse interaction effects, automatically centering the predictor variables prior to analysis. The Hayes PROCESS is currently the gold standard in major conditional analyses in psychological research (Chukwuorji et al, 2017). If a product term was significant, it would mean that the association between the independent variable (burden) and the outcome variable (HRQoL) was either stronger or weaker in the presence of the moderator (PCG), or that the direction of the association between the independent and the dependent variable changed in the presence of the moderator.…”
