“…To evaluate whether the Au/GdNC@SiO 2 could act as a valid MRI nanotracer, the longitudinal ( T 1 ) relaxation time was measured with a 0.5 T NMR analyzer at different Gd concentrations. As presented in Figure E, the Au/GdNC showed a high r 1 value of 8.68 s –1 per mM of Gd in PBS, from the linear fitting of the plot of 1/ T 1 vs Gd concentration, which was nearly twice as large as that of Magnevist (3.80 mM –1 s –1 ), one of the most widely used MRI contrast agents in the clinic .
