“…Reasons in favour of informal settings could be described as ' approach motives ' relating to procedural involvement and contact with the donor child and the recipient. Not all donors are aware of, or consider in depth, their motivation for donation or the future implications of their donation (Hammarberg et al, 2008;Van den Broeck et al, 2013). Our current overview of reasons may be used to help potential sperm donors make an informed decision regarding the setting of their donation.…”

“…Additionally, the ability to cryopreserve and quarantine oocytes for a period of time compatible with infectious disease testing of donors would enhance protection of recipients. This would allow equality of male and female gamete donation with respect to donor eligibility determination (42). One can envision that in the future patients who choose/require postponing childbirth until advanced age, when oocytes normally decrease in ability to support developmental competence, could cryopreserve oocytes at a young age thus increasing the chances of establishing a pregnancy with their own genetic material at a more advanced age.…”

“…While counselling prospective donors and recipients about psychosocial aspects of gamete donation, including disclosure, is required by authorities in several countries (Daniels, et al, 2009;Hammarberg, Carmichael, Tinney, & Mulder, 2008), studies of parents after gamete donation indicate deficiencies in the counselling received by the fertility clinic (Mac Dougall, et al, 2007;Shehab, et al, 2008) and a need for more information and guidelines about disclosure (Shehab, et al, 2008).…”
