Fuzzy Probability Analysis of the Fatigue Resistance of Steel Structural Members Under Bending/Fuzi Tikimybinė Analizė Vertinant Lenkiamų Plieninių Elementų Atsparį Nuovargiui

Abstract: To cite this article: Zdeněk Kala (2008) Abstract. The paper is aimed at the fuzzy probabilistic analysis of fatigue resistance due to uncertainty of input parameters. The fatigue resistance of the steel member is evaluated by linear fracture mechanics as the number of cycles leading to the propagation of initial cracks into a critical crack resulting in brittle fracture. When the histogram of stress range is known, the fatigue resistance is a random variable. In the event that the histogram is unknown or was… Show more

“…The damage D i is a loss of containment due to a failure of the containment structure. The explosion is a distant one with respect to the exposed structure (Bulson 1997;Kala 2008). The fundamental natural period of the structure is assumed to be relatively small, as compared to the positive duration of the blast wave reflected by the structure.…”

“…In case where QRA is carried out for such an object, the risk assessment should consider potential damage to structural parts of the object. This damage can be incorporated into the general framework of QRA (Vaidogas 2007a,b;Kala 2008). Many business activities generate risk of major accidents.…”

“…The normative principles and application rules are listed in standard EN 1990standard EN (2002 in Europe, and in ASCE/SEI 7-05 (2005) in the USA. Current approaches in the verification of reliability emanate mainly from probabilistic methods (Kala 2007;Karmazínová et al 2009;Kudzys et al 2010) and advanced optimization approaches (e.g., Atkočiūnas et al 1997;Kala 2008;Gottvald 2010;Leng et al 2011;Atkočiūnas, Venskus 2011;Jankovski, Atkočiūnas 2011). Different risk assessments of construction projects are discussed and compared (e.g., Zavadskas et al 2010).…”
