Economic inequality is worsening worldwide and is associated with various social problems. Although research on inequality has been conducted in various academic fields, research on how perceived inequality affects individual decision making is relatively limited in the marketing field. Recognizing this gap, this study examines how perceived economic inequality can affect individual behavior and decision making from the perspective of time frame. The results of four studies reveal that perceived economic inequality can induce present‐oriented behavior and suggest that perceived economic mobility accounts for this relationship. This study demonstrates that present‐oriented and shortsighted behaviors, which are usually considered characteristics of the poor, can occur due to the perceptions of the environment beyond class. It implies that the macro level of economic inequality can influence an individual's decision making at the micro level.

This present study was designed to investigate influences of identity styles and social support from peers on emotional EFL classroom engagement in a large sample of Saudi early adolescents (N=406) ranged in age from 12 to 15. This emotional engagement construct is based on the identity styles literature and draws upon concepts of social support received from peers as one of the most important sources of validation from others during adolescence period, and as a mediating variable of the associations between students’ identity styles and emotional engagement. The study shows gender differences within the sample. In general, the findings of the study demonstrate the role of social support received from peers in enhancing identity styles and influencing emotional EFL classroom engagement.

The present study sought to explore the development of Psychology students' narrative vocational identity focusing on the future plans and expectations that led them to the choice of Psychology and identifying whether there are any developmental changes resulting from early experiences of university life. Written narratives produced by students were studied in two different moments: during the first week of university attendance and immediately after first session of exams. The participants consisted of 50 Italian psychology students, balanced by gender aged 18 to 21 years (M age = 19.65 years, SD = 2.28). Narrative data of both Time1 and Time2 were analysed and compared through a content analysis focusing on rationale for the selection of studies; temporal models; sophistication; and vocational identity process. The results suggest that the future vocational plans have a crucial role in the vocational identity development. In this sense, the present study gives important information in order to suggest vocational intervention to enhance the future orientation of university students.
