Further Exploration of the 16‐PF and Counselor Effectiveness

Abstract: This study reexamines the relationship between the Sixteen‐Personality Factor (16‐PF) Questionnaire and counselor performance ratings. The 16‐PF was administered to 30 full‐time counselor trainees. Supervisor ratings of counseling effectiveness in practicums were correlated with raw scores of counselors on the 16‐PF. Data revealed that the pattern of relationships indicated by significant correlations is not consistent across this and three other studies using the 16‐PF. The results of this study and the reana… Show more

“…For example, Wittmer and Lister (1971) found that selected scales of the 16-PF were significantly correlated with CERS scale scores. In a similar study, Forster and Hamburg (1976) were unable to replicate the results of the Wittmer and Lister study. Therefore, there is precedent for using the CERS as a measure of judged counselor trainee performance.…”

“…COVID has been shown to exist in a number of different forms worldwide. The Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Omicron variations have been identified as variants of concern among these [7,8]. Although there were fewer infections in the early stages of the pandemic than in the later ones, as time passed, the COVID-19 virus evolved into different genetic forms that were more contagious.…”

“…This was due to random mutations that occurred during this process. In particular, both the alpha and delta versions were shown to be more contagious and virulent than previously known viral strains [8]. "The annoying delta variation, or B.1.617.2, was first discovered in India in December 2020, and this discovery sparked a huge pandemic that caused the most hospitalizations and fatalities in the nation.…”

“…In summary, they found that the effective practicum student is "more introspective, esthetically sensitive, emotionally expressive, flexible, tolerant and independent." Forster and Hamburg (1976) explored the use of the Sixteen-Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) in predicting successful trainees before the trainees' entrance into practicum. To do this, the 16PF was correlated with supervision ratings of students in practicum.…”
