Functional ability in a population: normative survey data and reliability for the ICF based Norwegian Function Assessment Scale

“…Both the Standard Nordic Questionnaire and NFAS instruments have been shown to have acceptable validity and reliability. 13,16,17 A limitation of the study is the modest response rate (54%). Nonresponder bias might cause both underestimation (through a "healthy volunteer" effect) and overestimation (through higher participation among persons with musculoskeletal pain) of the prevalence of neck pain.…”

“…15 Data quality, internal consistency, and testretest reliability have been found to be acceptable, and normative population data have been published. 16 In this study, we used the NFAS to assess functioning in people reporting neck pain.…”

“…The functional capacities of sick-listed employees in Norway have been registered using the Norwegian Function Assessment Scale (NFAS) [11,12], consisting of 40 items. Four scales about physical dimensions of functioning were identified, i.e.…”

“…Some of these instruments measure sections of the ICF classification structure, such as A&P: examples of this are the IMPACT-S, the screener part of the ICF Measure of Participation and Activities questionnaire [62], the Norwegian Function Assessment Scale (NFAS) [63]. Few instruments have been developed that specifically focus on a disease: to our knowledge, the Functional Assessment in Migraine (FAIM) questionnaire [64] and the Italian Society of Obesity test for obesity-related disabilities (TSD-OC) [65] are the only developed ICF-based disease specific disability assessment tools.…”
