Fully automatic generation of geoinformation products with chinese zy‐3 satellite imagery

Abstract: The advantages of continuously and soundly obtaining large multidimensional, multiscale and multitemporal observation datasets from satellite remote sensing make it indispensable in building a national spatial data infrastructure. This paper introduces the ZY-3 satellite developed in China and discusses a fully automatic data-processing system to generate geoinformation products, such as digital elevation models (DEMs) and digital orthophotomaps (DOMs), based on ZY-3 imagery. The key technologies of automatic … Show more

“…However, the matching of {p, p } may suffer from some geometric distortions (e.g., scale, rotation), which reduces the accuracy of the matching confidence evaluation. To reduce these geometric distortions, we resample all satellite images by projecting them on a common height plane before the matching confidence computation [28]. Matching results in textured regions are often reliable and the corresponding ZNCC curved surface in Figure 2a has an obvious peak (the maximum ZNCC value).…”

“…Also, the information can be retrieved directly from geospatial databases, the metadata is parsed extracting the image information and stored in a database [12]. Geoportals also exhibit derivative products [4,13] from satellite imagery, which add value to raster images and provide more information to the end-user [14].…”
