Scientific research becomes a primary source of knowledge for the state, constituting the basis for decision-making processes that lead to the development of public policies and the enactment of laws. Decisions should be based on the results obtained from research and guided by the ethical principles of public service. This studied evaluated the factors that influence the development of human rights research by professional women in the context of evidence-based decision making in Honduras, on a 5-year period up to 2023. A deductive qualitative approach was used, including semistructured interviews with professionals selected based on their roles and experience within the human rights system. A total of 30 expert informants from the academic, decision-making and human rights defense sectors were interviewed, 57% were women and 12 of them had strategic positions. The common factors affecting the use of research in decision-making span a broad spectrum, from the need for cross-sector collaboration to the crucial role of political will.Women reported being more exposed to violation of fundamental rights, abuse of power. This should be prevented and changes should be done so the system performs collaborative work to pursuit common goals.
