“…Yan et al [ 29 , 38 ] found that CP inhibited the nitrification process and stimulated the denitrification process in the bulk soil, which may change the flux of the agricultural greenhouse gas, N 2 O, from the soil. The changes in the relative abundances of the nitrifiers in response to CP also agreed with the results of [ 39 ], who found that CP significantly inhibited the abundance of the ammonia monooxygenase-encoding gene ( amoA ) in AOB.…”

“…It is likely that pure chemicals of chloropicrin are more easy to decompose, thereby killing all the microorganisms, and the soil microbial community may not be able to recover or may need a long time to recover, leading to a considerable decline in bacterial richness, diversity, and evenness ( Zhao et al, 2018 ). The results are consistent with those of Zhang et al (2021) that is, soil treated with fresh chicken manure not only improved the respiration rate of soil microorganisms but also shortened the recovery time of beneficial soil microorganisms and increased taxonomic diversity. This is possibly because fresh chicken manure is rich in organic matter and will form dissimilar soil bacterial microbiomes by stimulating different bacterial taxa to participate in the decomposition and reductive processes under anaerobic conditions.…”

“…Numerous studies have reported that soil microbiomes are considerably influenced by RSD and SFC ( Huang et al, 2016a ; Zhang et al, 2021 ; Zhu et al, 2021 ). In this study, we observed that SFC treatment significantly modified the soil bacterial community structure compared with the CK treatment, which is consistent with several other studies that showed remarkable shifts in soil bacterial communities after chemical fumigation ( Yan et al, 2019 ; Sun et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Mortierella is reported to inhibit plant diseases (Zhang et al, 2019), degrade many pesticides (Zhang et al, 2021a) and promote solubilizing soil phosphorus (Li et al, 2021). Therefore, the reduction of Mortierella may negatively affect plant health and soil P solubilization.…”
