“…One of the ways of achieving such matching is to use monochromatic laser pumping. Laser frequency converters, which were first investigated by Antipenko et al 2 ' 3 stand out from the other crystal lasers by their intended use-conversion of the stimulated emission energy of an efficient neodymium laser to a different spectral range-as well as by high values of the gain (0.5 cm" 1 ), record specific output energy (10 j/cm 3 ), and small angular divergence close to the diffraction limit.
