The peculiarities of HLA class II profile and lipid metabolism were examined in Buryat and Russian ethnic groups of patients with diabetes mellitus type 1. The incidence of type 1 haplotypes in HLA class II gene family was lower in Buryats than that in Russians. In comparison with Russians, the course of diabetes mellitus type 1 in Buryat patients was characterized with a lower content of total lipids, triacylglycerols, total cholesterol, and LDL, which probably explains a more favorable course of the disease in Buryat population.

The aim of this research was to study the concentration of lipid peroxidation (LPO) products and the activity of antioxidant defense (AOD) parameters in ISIAH rats in comparison with a group of adolescents with arterial hypertension (AH). Material and Methods:We conducted the study on young (2.5-3 months) sexually mature male rats of the normotensive line (WAG) (n=20) (intact animals) and hypertensive line (ISIAH) (n=20), weighing 200-220 g. The data of 65 adolescents aged 13-17 years with AH (Group 1) were used for the clinical study (the age of adolescents is comparable to the biological age of the experimental animals used). The comparison group consisted of 65 normotensive adolescents of the same age and sex ("copypair" type) (Group 2). The plasma level of antioxidant parameters (total antioxidant activity [TTA], SOD activity, α-tocopherol and retinol) and primary/secondary products of LPO (conjugated dienes [CD], ketodienes and conjugated trienes [KD-CT], and thiobarbituric acid reactants [TBARs]) were determined using spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods.Results: We found that the course of LPO reactions in animals and humans was similar, which was expressed by the activation of prooxidant factors and the insufficiency of antioxidant response. Species differences concerned the intensity and number of parameters involved in the pathological process. Thus, in ISIAH rats there was an increase in toxic TBA-active products and a decrease in TTA, α-tocopherol and retinol in comparison with normotensive animals; in AH adolescents there was an increase in the content of intermediate-KD-CT and final TBA-active products, and a decrease in the α-tocopherol level in relation to the comparison group.Conclusion: Features of response of the LPO nonspecific system in hypertensive rats and humans allow using this line of rats for further study of adaptive mechanisms, and to extrapolate the received experimental data on humans, taking into account certain specific distinctions.(International Journal of Biomedicine. 2019;9(4):292-296.)

Background: Currently, infertile couples represent a very complex and serious medical and social problem. In 40%-60% of cases, the reason for the absence of children in the family is the male factor. Oxidative stress (OS) has been identified as one of the many mediators of male infertility by causing sperm dysfunction. The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of the intensity indices of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and antioxidant system (AOS) in the ejaculate of men with different spermogram variants. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of the results of examinations of 69 men of infertile couples with various disorders of the ejaculate and 155 healthy men with proven fertility. In the semen of the examined men, the level of CD (conjugated dienes), TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances), α-tocopherol, retinol and total antioxidant activity (AOA) was evaluated by spectrophotometric method. Results: We found that the antioxidant protection system in patients with asthenozoospermia was characterized by a decrease in the level of total AOA in the semen by 50% and the α-tocopherol concentration by 52%, compared to healthy men in the control group. In patients with oligozoospermia, an increase in the CD concentration by 39% and a decrease in the TBARS concentration by 26% was found; the level of total AOA decreased by 37% and the concentration of α-tocopherol by 41%, compared to healthy men. Conclusion: In general, the analysis of the obtained data of the survey of men with different variants of spermograms indicates a change in the parameters of the LPO-AOS and confirms the OS development. Thus, it can be noted that depending on the pathological state of the ejaculate in men of reproductive age, LPO processes have their own characteristics, and in men with oligozoospermia, LPO processes occur more intensively. Activation of LPO-AOS processes can be both a consequence and a cause of various metabolic changes in the human body.
