Free radical nano scavenger based on amphiphilic novolacs

Abstract: Synthetic amphiphilic novolacs via click chemistry are capable of forming micelles, and interestingly, can act as highly efficient nano-scavengers for hydroxyl free radicals.

“…When the strained double bond was used from maleimide instead of norbornene, the signal shifted further to 5.03 and 5.94 ppm . The evidence of formation of triazoline can also be confirmed by the methylene on the alkyl chain next to nitrogen, as found centered at 3.53 ppm in Figure with integration values doubled compared to the CH at 4.36–4.50 ppm (on triazoline ring), which is in agreement very well with the similar example with butyl substituent (3.53 ppm) by Banert et al It has to be mentioned that the protons on methylene adjacent to azide in NC13N 3 were overlapped with peaks from 1.5 to 2.0 ppm . So, the presence of azide has to be confirmed by FTIR with the vibration at 2099 cm −1 compared to NC11Br (Figure ).…”

“…Hydrogen peroxide scavenging (H2O2) efficacy of the test reaction mixtures was ascertained from the literature procedure [45]. The solution of H2O2 (40mM) prepared in phosphate buffer (pH7.4) was added to various concentrations of (25, 50, 75, and 100 µg/ml) the test compounds (like plant extract and WT-AgNPs).…”
