Fratura do escafoide társico em um praticante de parkour, uma lesão rara – Relato de Caso e Revisão da Literatura

Abstract: Tarsal navicular fractures, as well as other midfoot injuries, are rare, and can result in severe impairment if not properly treated. Parkour, a modern sport, is gaining popularity among young individuals in urban areas, and is prone to result in high-energy trauma, which is scarcely described in the literature. The following is a report of a rare case of tarsal navicular fracture in a 17-year-old male, sustained during parkour practice, which was treated successfully with open reduction and internal fixation.… Show more

“…The treatment aims to restore the medial longitudinal arch and the anatomical relationship between the hindfoot and the forefoot, promoting stability of the midfoot (1) . In this injury pattern with small-sized comminuted fragments, conventional fixation techniques may not be feasible or sufficiently stable (1,3,5,9) . Kirschner wires may not provide sufficient stability to maintain the length and shape of the medial midfoot arch, and plate and screw systems may cause excessive vascular damage (9)(10)(11) .…”

Furthermore, late complications and poor outcomes have been associated with comminuted navicular fractures, including avascular necrosis, delayed union, osteoarthritis, joint stiffness, and chronic pain, especially when the medial column is not restored (3,10,11) .…”

“…Parkour merupakan olahraga yang dilakukan oleh traceur (orang yang melakukan parkour) dengan tujuan untuk berpindah ke satu titik ke titik lain dalam lingkungan yang kompleks dengan cara yang cepat dan efisien tanpa peralatan tambahan (Karmali et al, 2019;Pagnon et al, 2022).…”
