FRAKSI AIR DAUN UBI JALAR (Ipomea batatas (L.) Lam) SEBAGAI HEPATOPROTEKTOR TERHADAP TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN YANG DIINDUKSI PARACETAMOL

Abstract: Sweet potato leaves (Ipomea batatas (L) Lam ) are empirically used by people in some regions as traditional medicines to treat dengue fever and as anti-cancer because of their high antioxidant content. This study aims to see the effect of sweet potato leaf water fraction as a hepatoprotector on male white rats induced by paracetamol. Sweet potato leaves were extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol for 8 days then fractionation was carried out. The hepatoprotector test was carried out on 25 rats grouped in 5 … Show more

“…The hepatoprotective activity of bilimbi leaf extract comes from its high antioxidant activity. Antioxidants can reduce oxidative stress by binding free radical electrons to prevent chain reactions that lead to hydrogen peroxide formation, resulting in improved damaged tissues (Tandi 2017;Wahidah et al 2019). Compounds contained in bilimbi leaf extract also have specific anti-inflammatory roles, such as flavonoids, tannins, and triterpenoids.…”

“…The blood that has been drawn is collected in eppendorf then centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes and then the serum is separated for analysis for serum levels of GPT and GOT [40]. The enzymatic activity of serum Glutamic Pyruvate Transaminase (GPT) and Glutamic Oxaloacetate Transminase (GOT) was measured according to the previous method [41,42]. The liver was immediately removed and cleaned with 0.9% NaCl (saline).…”
