Fragility Curve Analysis of Medium Cable Stayed Bridge

Abstract: The seismic performance of a bridge can be shown by analyzing the vulnerability of the structure in resisting an earthquake motion and then developing into fragility curves. This study presents a convenient method to establish the fragility curve for the cable-stayed bridge. For this purpose, three spans cable-stayed bridge is assessed using a series of seismic loads in different intensities to ensure that the structure was experiencing damage in several conditions. The fragility curve was obtained by analyzin… Show more

“…It was seen from the results that SSI extends the fundamental period of the bridge, which reduces the structural stiffness and increases the tower displacements. Masrilayanti et al [13] presented a novel approach for determining the fragility curves for the cable-stayed bridges using nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) and pushover analysis. HAZUS standards were used to determine the damage limits of the bridges.…”

“…Fragility curves can be developed from either analytical or empirical or combination of them based on source of the data and type of analysis (Nasution, Masrilayanti, & Kurniawan, 2020). There are several method to simulate the earthquake load and develop it into the fragility curves; static nonlinear analysis; nonlinear dynamic analysis; performance based design (Nasution, Masrilayanti, & Kurniawan, 2020). The fragility curves are established to provide a prediction of potential damage during an earthquake.…”
