Four New Species of Hemileccinum (Xerocomoideae, Boletaceae) from Southwestern China

Abstract: The genus Hemileccinum belongs to the subfamily Xerocomoideae of the family Boletaceae. In this study, phylogenetic inferences of Hemileccinum based on sequences of a single-locus (ITS) and a multi-locus (nrLSU, tef1-α, rpb1, rpb2) were conducted. Four new species, namely H. abidum, H. brevisporum, H. ferrugineipes and H. parvum were delimited and proposed based on morphological and molecular evidence. Descriptions and line-drawings of them were presented, as well as their comparisons to allied taxa. Our study… Show more

“…Color codes designated in the descriptions are from Kornerup and Wanscher [ 23 ]. Microscopic features were observed and measured on dried material with light microscopy and a scanning electron microscope [ 24 ]. In the descriptions of basidiospores, the abbreviation (n/m/p) means n basidiospores measured from m basidiomata of p collections; the sizes for basidiospores are given using a range notation of the form (a–) b–c (–d): The range b–c contains a minimum of 90% of the measured values.…”

“…For some herbarium specimens with degraded DNA, the internal primers of the ITS gene 5.8S and 5.8SR and the internal primers of the tef1-α gene 1567R were employed when amplification of the larger region was unsuccessful [ 34 , 35 ]. All PCR conditions followed Li et al [ 24 ]. PCR products were purified and sequenced by TSINGKE Biological Technology (Kunming, China).…”

“…Globally, tropical to subtropical regions are predominantly composed of AM-associated plants, whereas EM plant species dominate temperate and boreal regions (Soudzilovskaia et al, 2019). It is worth noting that Fagaceae plants are one of the major components in subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in East Asia (Yu et al, 2017), which form EM associations more commonly (Kong et al, 2014;Li et al, 2021). Moreover, EM plant species are still widespread in tropical forests (Corrales et al, 2018).…”
