Fossil fuel price policy and sustainability: energy, environment, health and economy

Abstract: Purpose This study aims to develop a price policy for fossil fuel consumption, as it is an effective instrument to manage the demand-side of energy economics. Design/methodology/approach This research estimates the demand elasticities of diesel, gasoline, fuel oil and kerosene by using static, dynamic and error-correction models in log-linear form. Findings The findings show that fossil fuel demand responds to price changes less than income changes, as fuel price is inelastic, but income is elastic. In tha… Show more

“…For instance, the COVID-19 pandemic caused labor shortages, supply chain disruption, and import and export challenges (Aday, 2020; Ahmed and Azra, 2022). In addition, earthquakes can fundamentally damage infrastructure like transportation networks, storage systems and processing plants (Huang et al ., 2022; Mohamad Taghvaee et al ., 2022a,b; Nasrollahi et al ., 2020; Tokui et al ., 2017). Moreover, floods inundate fields, erode soils and damage infrastructure like transportation networks (Haraguchi and Lall, 2015; Khan et al ., 2021; Taghvaee et al ., 2022b).…”

“…In this regard, the impact of price changes decreases continuously with the increase in energy prices, followed by subsidy reforms. (Taghvaee et al,2022). For example, in the research that has been done, HVs are divided into several systems, namely those that simultaneously use fuel oil and use batteries, such as full HVs mild-HVs which can fully use fuel but in the process of traveling mild-HVs cannot simultaneously use both power sources.…”
