Formulation of Catechin Hydrate Nanocapsule and Study of its Bioavailability

Abstract: Flavonoid is a polyphenolic antioxidant used to treat free radical mediated tissue damage. So flavonoids are the good targets for treatment of many diseases like cancer, toxicity health hazards, neurodegenaration etc. Drug delivery of flavonoid is the novel approach where dosing and drug toxicity can be minimized. Antioxidant Catechin Hydrate (CH) is choosen to make drug delivery vehicle: nanocapsules either alone or in combination with chelator sodium meta borate (SMB) within biodegradable poly-lactide-co-gly… Show more

“…Earlier reports revealed the nanoscale formulations of catechins can improve stability, gastrointestinal absorption, bioaccumulation, oral bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy of catechins [150,[281][282][283][284][285]. Catechin-grafted inulin and catechin-grafted chitosan nanoparticles were reported to exhibit improved antidiabetic potential in terms of α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitory effects than free catechins and acarbose [286,287].…”

“…Catechins. Catechin nanoscale formulations have previously been shown to increase catechin stability, gastrointestinal absorption, and bioaccumulation [172][173][174][175][176][177]. In terms of α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitory activities, catechin-grafted inulin was found to have better antidiabetic potential than free catechins and acarbose [178,179].…”
