Formation Evaluation for Jeribe Formation in the Jaria Pika Gas Field

Abstract: The Jaria Pika Gas field is a domal anticlinal structure in the northeast of Iraq NW trending, about 3.6 km long and 1.9 km wide. The 55 m thick gas bearing Jeribe Formation is the main reservoir. This study intends to well log interpretation to determine the petrophysical properties of the Jeribe Formation in the Jaria Pika Gas Field. Total porosity, effect porosity, and secondary porosity have been calculated from neutron, density, and sonic logs. Porosity is fair to good in the Jeribe formation. From RHOB-N… Show more

“…The main controlling factors that influence the occurrence characteristics of movable fluids are demonstrated to be reservoir physical property, pore type, pore and throat radii, porethroat radius ratio, sorting coefficient, effective pore-throat volume, and clay mineral filling (Li, 2018). Similar studies on Iraqi reservoirs become increasingly important such as Abdulrahman et al (2020) on Jeribe Formation in Jeria Pika gas field, and Mamaseni (2020) on the Sargelu reservoir in Atrush oil field. The purpose of this work is to evaluate fluids mobility and its relations to the Mauddud reservoir petrophysical property.…”

“…Physical measurements from well logging are required to determine subsurface parameters. Log data is the kind of down-hole data that is most typically utilized for analyzing subsurface rocks and their physical characteristics. The basic goal of well log interpretation is to use drilling to assess the potential production of porous and permeable formations (Abdulrahman et al, 2020). Over 80% of Iraq's oil reserves are found in the country's most productive time period.…”

“…Tali and Farman, 2021 calculated the porosity of a carbonate reservoir in the south of Iraq using standard and statistical approaches. Abdulrahman et al (2020) evaluated the Jeribe Formation in Jaria pika gas field in northeast Iraq. These researches as well as other published articles, did not address the petrophysical and geomechanical characteristics of rocks in the area under study with relation to the fracability of the formation using data from vertical wells.…”
